National Centers for Systems Biology
How to: Events Calendar
The public events calendar (http://www.systemscenters.org/news-events/public-events-calendar/) publicizes large public events where outside participation is a major goal, such as annual symposia. The calendar lists events organized by the National Centers for Systems Biology as well as systems biology activities coordinated by external organizations. The calendar is actually a Google calendar which is embedded in the WordPress site. You therefore need to go to the Google calendar to add your event.
Step One – create your account on the Google calendar:
- Members for the National Centers for Systems Biology should send their email address to Jeremy Muhlich (Center for Cell Decision Processes; jeremy_muhlich@hms.harvard.edu). Jeremy will then create an account for you. A list of existing designees for this process from each Center is listed here.
Step Two – add an event:
- Go to the Google calendar at http://www.google.com/calendar/
- Sign in with your email address and your password. (If you have forgotten your password then click “Can’t access your account” under the blue “Sign in” button)
- Find “National Centers for Systems Biology” among the list of calendars on the left hand side
- Click on this calendar’s drop down menu which is a small down arrow to the right of the words “National Centers for Systems Biology”
- Select “Create an event on this calendar”
- Enter your event information including selecting “Public” under the Privacy option
- Note – All the events on the “National Centers for Systems Biology” calendar default to red to distinguish them from the non-Center systems biology events which are in blue
- Click “Save”
- Check that your event is now appearing on the public events calendar at http://www.systemscenters.org/news-events/public-events-calendar/
Other Systems Biology Events
Events which are not directly associated with a specific National Center for Systems Biology may also listed on the calendar. Contact Imogen Hurley (Center for Genome Dynamics; imogen.hurley@jax.org) with your event information and she will enter the event on your behalf.
