National Centers for Systems Biology

Annual Meeting 2010

The Center for Systems Biology, located in Seattle, Washington at the Institute for Systems Biology (ISB), was pleased to host the National Centers for Systems Biology for a two day meeting, Monday July 12 and Tuesday July 13, 2010.

The Seattle meeting included presentations from each Center to define systems biology within the context of their Center. To facilitate interaction across the Centers’ members, presentations were followed by open discussion, lightning presentations, and a reception and poster session. The key aims of the meeting in Seattle were to: a) discuss the current and future accomplishments of systems biology, b) highlight the expanse of systems biology approaches towards understanding biological complexity; c) exchange and identify common facets of systems biology, and to stimulate possibilities for collaboration; d) share and coordinate novel education and outreach programs.

At the heart of the Centers is the conviction that the challenges of systems biology are best addressed through multidisciplinary, focused efforts that to drive the development of new biological insights, technologies and education opportunities.
